Damaged barge being lightered
Following the collision of the "Enyo" (MMSI-No.: 211540790) and the "Manouk" (MMSI-No.: 244670068) on the Rhine at Königswinter on June 29 at 8.45 a.m., the situation of both ships remained unchanged on June 30. The ship traffic was able to pass the barges with caution. The Enyo had been turned around after running into the starboard side of the Manouk and was grounded on the right river shore by its master in sinking conditon. It was unclear whether the leak in the bow could be patched by divers. The lighter ship "Doris" (MMSI-No.: 211707860) meanwhile went alongside to remove the cargo of aluminum oxide onto the German barge "Vivarium I" (MMSI-No.: 211581910). The fire boat "FLB Bonn" (MMSI-No.: 211134320) was on standby. The fire brigades from Königswinter, Bad Honnef and Bonn, rescue services, the police and the German Life Saving Society (DLRG) as well as fire boats from Remagen and Colonia and a rescue helicopter had attended with up to 70 forces after the accident, the cause of which was still being investigated. The master of the Enyo had reported an engine failure prior to the accident via VHF.
