Fishing vessel obviously sank

Wed Jan 29 12:36:13 CET 2020 Timsen

On Jan 26, following a storm, the 'Enigma Astralis' disappeared from radar, and a search operation commenced involving 11 vessels located in the area. On Jan 28, on of them, the Russian fishing vessel 'Imatra'´(IMO: 8859768), using sonar, discovered a sunken object in the vicinity of the last position of the 'Enigma Astralis'. Another Russian fishing vessel, the 'Kalinovka' (IMO: 8423272) was now sent to the area of the sunken object, attempting to verify that the sonar contact was indeed the 'Enigma Astralis'. On Jan 27, the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport concluded that the wreck's signature was indeed that of the 'Enigma Astralis'. Russia's Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office was investigating the circumstances of the fire, including a review of the vessel's statutory compliance.

Tue Jan 21 09:38:53 CET 2020 Timsen

On Jan 21, 2020, at 12.25 p.m. a fire broke out aboard the 'Enigma Astralis' in the Okhotsk Sea southeast of Magadan, about 262 kilometers northwest of the village of Ust-Khayryuzovo.
