The "Elektra" suffered water ingress through a faulty cool water pipe in the engine room after having berthed in the port of St. Malo on Nov 4, 2010, in order to unload a cargo of fertilizer. The ship was temporarily in danger of sinking there. The fire rescue was on scene and sent divers to plug the hole. One crew member suffered injuries. The vessel was picked up by the tug "North" and towed towards Germany. On Nov 21, it transited the Kiel Canal eastbound as a dead ship, besides the "North" being assisted by the "Taucher Otto Wulf 8" as stern tug and finally berthed at the Lindenau Yard Kiel for repairs on Nov 22.
