Grounding on new breakwater
The "Perseus" ran aground while entering Tórshavn upon the Faroe Islands on June 24, 2018, at 11 p.m. The ship made contact with the new built rubble mound breakwater while preparing to reverse into the harbour. The tug "Samson" and the "Brimil" of the Coastguard were deployed to refloat the ship which succeeded in the early morning hours of June 25. The vessel left Tórshavn again the same day after unloading cargo following inspections, being bound for Reykjavik, as she apparently didn’t suffer significant damages. The breakwater was marked out in accordance with current regulations and in consultation with the relevant authorities.
