15 of 18 castways rescued by good samaritans
Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) rescued the crew of the sinking cargo ship 'Suvari H' on July 31, 2021, about 180 nautical miles south of Karachi. The ship had been caught in a storm while carrying cargo from India to Somalia. The 'Elan Vital' received a distress call, and five crew members were immediately rescued. the Pakistan Navy was notified and deployed a surveillance aircraft as well as a PMSA aircraft and a ship to the site. Rescuers initially identified eight crew members and five more were later rescued with the help of a life raft. Another nearby ship, the tanker 'Desh Abhimaan', helped rescue another five members. So far, 15 out of 18 crew members — all of whom Syrians — have been rescued. The Pakistan Navy and PMSA were conducting search operations to find the other three members. Omega Navigation files for Chapter 11 protection
Products tanker operator Omega Navigation Enterprises Inc. (NASDAQ:ONAV) says that it and certain of its subsidiaries have filed voluntary petitions under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas (Houston). The company says it believes that the Chapter 11 process will facilitate restructuring, which is designed to restore the company to long-term financial health. The Chapter 11 filings include the following companies and vessels: Omega Navigation Enterprises, Inc.; Omega Navigation (USA) LLC; Galveston Navigation Inc (the Omega Lady Miriam); Beaumont Navigation Inc (the Omega Lady Sarah); Carrolton Navigation Inc (the Omega Prince); Decatur Navigation Inc (the Omega Princess); Elgin Navigation Inc (the Omega Queen); Fulton Navigation Inc (the Omega King); Orange Navigation Inc (the Omega Emmanuel); and Baytown Navigation Inc (the Omega Theodore).
