The anchors of the 'Fast Ferries Andros' (IMO: 8907280), the 'Ekaterini P.' and the 'Super Ferry' (IMO: 9110016) got entangled during the departure of the ferries from Rafina on Sep 9, 2023. A collision was avoided between all involved vessels at the last minute. The incident occurred due to bad weather conditions prevailing in the area. The 'Super Ferry' lost its port anchor, and the Master of the vessel informed the Port Authority of Tinos, which initially prohibited the sailing of the ferry until a class maintenance certificate permitting its continued sailing was issued by the ship's surveyor. Following the presentation of the certificate, the vessel was allowed to depart Tinos on its scheduled service.
Engine failure off Kavo Doro
The 'Ekaterini P.' suffered an engine failure, while sailing off Kavo Doro, on Aug 12, 2023, at around 8.30 p.m. The vessel arrived at the port of destination, Rafina, with own power 1,5 hours behind the schedule.
Collision in Tinos
The ferry 'Champion Jet 1' (IMO: 9153008), while manoeuvring at the port of Tinos, was in collision with the 'Ekaterini P' in the foremidday of June 2, 2023, while serving its scheduled route from the port of Rafina to Andros, Tinos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, and Piraeus with 686 passengers on board. The 'Ekaterini P' was on its scheduled route from the port of Naxos to Mykonos, Tinos, and Rafina with 217 passengers on board. The 'Champion Jet 1' berthed safely at Tinos. No injuries and no pollution were reported. The Port Authority of Tinos carried out a preliminary investigation. Both ships could continue their operations after a class maintenance certificates was issued by the monitoring classification societies.
