Dock workers refuesed to load arms onto Ashdod bound ship

Tue May 18 09:21:51 CEST 2021 Timsen

Dock workers from the Italian base union of USB operating at the port of Livorno have refused to load a shipment of arms onto the 'Asiatic Island' after discovering the load was headed to Israel. The shipment included explosives and precision-guided munitions destined for the port city of Ashdod. The USB union explained that dock workers took the decision to stop loading the shipment fearing the weapons would end up killing Palestinians. Dock workers had been tipped off by an NGO named The Weapon Watch over the weapons they were supposed to load onto the vessel at the port of Livorno. The ship shifted to Naples on May 15, 2021, and sailed to Ashdod on May 16 with an ETA as of May 19.
