Egholm II finally went into service
On Nov 25, 2013, the "Egholm II" finally entered service between Aalborg and the island of Toro. The ferry had its first sailing at 8 a.m. increasing the cargo capacity from 12 tonsto 60 tons. In September 2011 the ship had destroyed the ferry landing at Aalborg. En route to Hirtshals , where the ferry was to be completed it had sunk on Oct 17, 2010, under tow approximately eight miles southeast of the port of Aarhus. During the first salvage attempt the ropes broke just as the ferry's superstructure was above water, and it sank back to the bottom. When the ship was finally sealed, it was towed to Hirtshals. On Oct 6, 2011 the ferry was ready after repairs, but the ferry landings in Aalborg and Egholm were not strong enough for the ferry and had to be rebuilt.
