Ship disabled and adrift after fire

The 'Efes', which had been disabled by a fire with 11 people on board, was still adrift after a power failure in pos. 14-30.00 N 089-43.00 E. Vessels in the vicinity were requested to keep a sharp lookout, assist if possible and report to the MRCC Port Blair.

Fire in Bay of Bengal

On Aug 19, 2024, a fire broke out aboard the 'Efes' while she was sailing around 540 nautical miles east of Chennai, in the Bay of Bengal. The MRCC in Chennai called on the vessels in the area to assist vessel. Currently, the cause and nature of the fire were not known. The vessel was partially laden and had departed from Visakhapatnam on Aug 17 en route to Port Klang.

BBC Canada disabled after engine failure in Gulf of Aden

German General cargo vessel BBC Canada was disabled in Gulf of Aden after engine failure on reportedly, July 31, but vessel was reported drifting already on July 26. Vessel is en route from Mumbai India to Diliskelesi, Turkey.
