EEMS SOLAR 9559614

Mon Oct 25 09:12:20 CEST 2010 Timsen

Coming from the Thomassen harbour in Amsterdam and bound for the waste incineration at Alkmaar with pulp, the "Eems Solar" allided twice with the Wilhelmina bridge in the center of Zaandam on Oct 24, 2010, at 9.30 a.m. while trying to pass. Some stone blocks were broken out of the bridge construction so that the bascule bridge could not be lowered for some time. The traffic in the Zaan was blocked until 2 p.m. when a mobile cran had repositioned the stone blocks. The "Eems Solar" proceeded to the Prinz Hendrik Quay in Zaandam in the afternoon. No one was hurt. The police started investigations against the Lithuanian captain.
