Detention and fine for fishing in excess of quota
The 'Ecopacific' has been detained, by Sakhalin border guards, and an administrative arrest was imposed at the port of Nevelsk on May 27, 2020. The vessel was initially detained by border guards due to harvested crab in excess of the established quota. In the course of control and inspection activities aboard the vessel, the amount of environmental damage to the crab industry totalled more than 87 million Russian rubles. A fine of one million rubles with compensation for damage in the amount of 1,867,310 rubles was imposed, and a criminal penalty of 200,000 rubles was applied to the Captain and owner of the vessel.
