Trawler will be demolished
The damage to the "Eben Haëzer - GY 57" was such significant that the ship has been declared a total loss and will be demolished in one month. She was in the port of IJmuiden in August 2017 when a valve of the toilet did malfunction, causing a water ingress and partially sinking of the ship. After the water was pumped out, the damage was investigated. Initially, it was estimated at around 800,000 Euros, but gradually that amount went up to about two million Euros especially due to damage in the engine room. In the end, the cutter was therefore declared a total loss. First there were interested parties for the vessel, but once it became clear what the exact damage was, the potential buyers retreated.
