m/v Eagle is released, but when exactly, is unclear

Thu Sep 29 03:48:43 CEST 2011 odinfm

EU NAVFOR reported September 28, 2011: “Following payment of a ransom, the M/V EAGLE, which was pirated on 17 January 2011 in position 490 nautical miles South of Salalah, Oman has recently been released from pirate control off the coast of Somalia. The ship is now on her way to a safe port”. Vessel is free and its fine, but what happened in reality and why Ecoterra Intl reported m/v Eagle as released on Aug 20, but dead in the water soon after, due to engine failure. EU NAVFOR didn’t give the date. Previous news: 20 August 2011 pirates released bulk carrier Eagle after ransom was paid. Since then the vessel is dead in the water with engine problems, watched over by a naval vessel and a boat with armed security on board. Families fear for the safety of the exhausted seafarers, while efforts were made to rescue the vessel and crew. Bulk carrier Eagle hijacked at 0641 UTC Jan 17 2011 in 13 17 N 061 42 E (490 nm SE off Salalah, Oman), vessel was enroute from Aquabar Jordan to Paradip India. Crew 24, all Philippinese. Eagle IMO 8126408, dwt 52163, built 1985, flag Cyprus, owner/manager Reposea Shipping Athens Greece.
