Medevac off Southwest Pass

The US Coast Guard medevaced a man from the "Elixir" near Southwest Pass, Louisiana, on June 25, 2017. The Coast Guard’s Eighth District received a report at approximately 6:30 p.m. from the tanker that a 29-year-old Philipino crew member was experiencing severe abdominal pain approximately 270 nautical miles from Southwest Pass. The "Elixir" transited closer to Southwest Pass where a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew met the vessel and hoisted the patient. The aircrew landed at PHI Boothville, Louisiana to refuel and was met by emergency medical services. The patient was transported the patient to West Jefferson Medical Center. He was reported to be in stable condition.

Wrecked barge drifting at collision site, stern sank

Up to nine crew members of the "Tank" (IMO: 8681460) were killed in the collision with the "Elixir" early in the morning of Oct 19, 2015, 65 miles from the shore and 10 nautical miles south west of the Bonga FPSO near Warri in pos. 04 degrees 27 degrees North 004 degrees 27 degree East. One body and three survivors were recovered from the waters immediately following the incident off the coast of Warri in Nigeria’s Delta State. The "Elixir" which had suffered damage to the bulbous bow was detained by the Nigerian authoritieswhile the incident was under Investigation. The stern of the tank barge sank on a water depth of 1500 meters, the forebody was still drifting in the sea. The Nigerian navy has deployed two combat vessels from the Central Naval Command, Bayelsa State, to clear the ships from the point of the accident. The Nigerian crew members onboard the "Tank" were Kulo Eddy Osang, Arerebo Arepade Clifford, Finecountry Timipouadeh, Akindele Akinbanjon, Odafe E. Offeh, Magaji Joshua, Isaac Kojo Money and Salami Malcolm. Others were Ejila Philip, Moses Apobowei and Sambo M. The three rescued crewmembers were receiving treatment at Twins Clinic Warri at the behest of NIMASA while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary. MT ELIXIR collides with MT GOOD SUCCESS TANK, 1 dead, 8 missing

Nigerian media reported collision between Greek tanker ELIXIR and a tanker "Good Success Tank", which took place some 10 nm southwest of Bonga FPSO in Warri waters, Delta State, Nigeria, around midnight Oct 19. Tanker Tank, understood to be Nigerian tanker GOOD SUCCESS TANK, sank, with 3 crew rescued, 1 found dead and 8 missing, assumedly trapped inside the vessel. No other information available at the moment. As of morning Oct 24 ELIXIR was either drifting or anchored in collision area.
