Iran launches Gulf rescue for stricken oil service ship
Iranian authorities on Thursday launched a rescue operation in the Gulf to save 72 workers on an oil service ship that got into an accident, the Fars news agency reported. The governor of the southern port city of Assalouyeh, Abdollah Naderi, was quoted as saying that 60 people from the vessel had been rescued and naval forces and local ships were still searching for the remaining 12. The nature and gravity of the accident were not immediately known. Fars said the ship was carrying equipment belonging to the Pars Oil and Gas Company, which runs platforms in the oil-rich Gulf. An initial report by the agency said five people had been killed and six were stranded in a part of the stricken ship, but that toll was not confirmed in the later report citing Naderi. http://www.zawya.com/story.cfm/sidANA20111020T192413ZNMM03/Iran_launches_Gulf_rescue_for_stricken_oil_service_ship
