Allision in Den Helder
On Sep 11, 2019, at 7 p.m. the 'Drifa' allided with the at Vice Admiral Moorman Bridge on the Nieuwe Diep in Den Helder, while reversing on the waterway. As a result, the ship was considerably damaged at the rear, where part of the steel was bent. The damage to the bridge, which had visible scratches, was not yet known and will be checked at a later time. Traffic over the bridge was not impacted. While the exact cause of the maneuver was not yet known, police, military police and an employee of Port of Den Helder were investigating. Nobody was injured. Tender towed to Flushing
The "Drifa", en route from Den Helder with a crew of five on board, suffered an engine failure and subsequently anchored in position 052 12 24 N, 002 14 30 E, on Dec 14, 2018, at 3 p.m. The tug "Multratug 20" was deployed to assist the vessel and tow it to Flushing. The tug commenced the tow at 10.15 p.m., and on Dec 15 at 10 a.m. the tender safely berthed in the inner port. It sailed from Flushing on Dec 17 and arrived in Den Helder on Dec 18. Service ship towed to safety
On Oct 30 at 8.45 a.m. the "Drifa" was towed into the port of Den Helder and moored at berth 33/35. The windows of the wheelhouse had been smashed by large waves, and the ship had become disabled. Initially the lifeboat "Arie Visser" from Terschelling took the vessel in tow before the Coastguard emergency tug "Nordic" took over.
