Ferry service re-opened

Sat Nov 13 22:17:47 CET 2021 Timsen

The 'Dorena Hickam Ferry' that connects Kentucky and Missouri has reopened on Nov 11 at 4 p.m. after a one-week closure due to a mechanical problem with one of the landing ramps. The ramp control mechanism has now been repaired and the ferry is back in service on the regular fall schedule.

Ferry suffered ramp trouble

Sat Nov 06 17:12:35 CET 2021 Timsen

The 'Dorena-Hickman Ferry', which connects KY 1354 at Hickman, Kentucky, with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Missouri, has halted service due to a mechanical issue with one of the barge landing ramps on Nov 6, 2021. Certain parts to repair the ramp control mechanism were not likely to be delivered until Nov 8 at the earliest, and the necessary repairs could take several hours to complete. That meant the Dorena-Hickman Ferry will likely remain out of service through Nov 8.

Ferry sidelined in Elvis Stah Port

Fri Sep 17 19:17:05 CEST 2021 Timsen

The 'Dorena Hickman Ferry' was taken out of service due to a mechanical failure on Aug 30, 2021, and has remained stationary in Elvis Stahr port since then in position 36 34 06N, 89 12 44W. On Sep 13 the AIS transmissions have apparently stopped.
