Five injured in ferry allision in Hongkong

Five people were injured when the "Discovery Bay 5" allided with the Discovery Bay Ferry Pier in the night of Apr 3, 2017. The ferry carrying 285 passengers had departed from Central at 8 p.m. Upon arrival at Lantau Island. It smashed a row of glass windows at the Discovery Bay Ferry Pier on Plaza Lane when it was about to moor at 8.40 p.m. Four people were injured by glass splinters. A 47-year old woman complaining of neck pain was seen being helped to sit down before she was taken to North Lantau Hospital. Others who had been injured did not ask for treatment at the site. The Marine Department believed the incident might be related to an engine failure, and it was following up the matter. The weather conditions were fine at the time of the accident. The ferry suffered extensive bow damage.
