A flame arrestor stopped working aboard the "Discoverer Enterprise" while it collected oil and flared natural gas above the leak site of the "Deepwater Horizon"-wreck. The ship was shut down at about 8:20 p.m. June 18 and was expected to restart June 19 after the passage of a lightning storm.

The „Discovery Enterprise“ was struck by lightning during the oil recovery operation in the Gulf of Mexico on June 15, 2010, and subsequently caught fire. The pumping works had to be interrupted, but were continued in the afternoon after the fire was contained. The ship is storing the oil which is pumped from the blow hole on the sinking site of the „Deepwater Horizon“.
