Tanker overloaded in Brunsbüttel
The "Mar Rocia" being loaded with liquid fertilizer was stopped by officials of the Water Police Brunsbuttel on Aug 21, 2013, in the Great North Lock, because the freeboard marks on both sides were no longer visible. The ship was enroute from Klaipeda to Ghent. According to calculations the ship was 30 centimeters too low in the water which meant an overload of 460 tons respectively. The Ship Safety Division ordered a detention of the ship. The tanker had to anchor on Medem Roads. The Crew was there trying to reduce the draught by pumping ballast water over board. The master had to pay a security deposit.
