Fri May 08 11:48:25 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'World Odyssey' berthed in the port of Caen on May 7, 2020. Its 54 crew members must remain confined aboard. After a month spent in the Canaries, the ship was docked in the Herouville basin at 11.30 a.m after spending more than one hour off Ouistreham in the morning before obtaining prefectural authorization to dock. The ship had contacted the Caen port authorities a fortnight ago. There were no health or damage issues on the ship which has been regularly chartered in summer by the University of Colorado (USA) for its students. The majority of the crew Ukrainian staff. They will remain confined for several days before disembarking, after a medical check-up and if they have a plane ticket to return to their country. Some members of the crew were from third countries outside the Schengen area. The company representatives must develop a transportation plan so that each of them can return to their country. Some of the crew will still stay in Caen, to watch over the safety of the 'World Odyssey'.
