Dea Favente allided with bridge
In the evening of Sep 22, 2016, at 7 p.m. the "Deo Favente", 2316 ts (ENI-No.: 02333026), allided with the Scharber Bridge of the freeway 76 on the Juliana Canal in Elsloo. The wheelhouse which had not been lowered down when approaching the bridge, was crushed, one man fell over board and suffered leg injuries. He swam ashore and taken to a hospital in Geleen by ambulance. The ship stopped only 100 meters off the accident site. The Dutch police launched an investigation. Missing master of survey boat found dead in the Rhine
Tthe body of the missing master of the German survey boat "Level A - HH AD-718" which had capsized on Aug 31 on the Rhine at Basel after collision with the "Deo Favente", 1641 ts (EU-No.: 6003971), was found deadin the morning of Sep 10 near Kembs in the Rhine and was identified on Sep 11 so that it is clear now that the accident caused the death of two of the four crew members. The "Deo Favente" sailed from Basel on Sep 3 with Antwerp as next port of call on Sep 6.
One dead, one missing after collision on the Rhine
The collision of the "Deo Favente" with a survey boat of the Hamburg Port University on the Rhine at Basel has a first confirmed fatality: One crewman of the boat whoc was recovered seriously injured, has died despite intensive medical care, the Basel prosecutor announced on Sep 2. Two others who were slightly injured left the hospital on the Aug 31. One person waa still missing, the search has been stopped one hour after the collision which happened at a river spot with strong currents. The launch had been measuring the navigation channel when hit by the barge causing it to capsize.
