Sun Aug 02 16:46:29 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'Deniz 5', enroute from Constanta, suffered water ingress in in its forepeak tank and cargo hold No. 2 and listed heavily in pos. 42 28 03 N, 027 28 54 E, approximately 30 nautical miles east of town of Obzor in Bulgarian waters northeast of Burgas, on July 31, 2020. The ship developed a portside list. On July 31 the ship was under tow to Burgas. On Aug 1 at 2.50 a.m. it was towed to Burgas anchorage. Upon completion of formalities, the vessel was berthed at the repair yard in the port. A detailed damage survey was carried out by the attended surveyors together with the owner's superintendent. Divers carried out an underwater inspection of the vessel. Part of the cargo was discharged and shifting operations were carried out in order to stabilize the vessel. Temporary repairs were carried out by shore based technical teams with the support of the crew. A tightness test will also be conducted upon completion of further repairs. The vessel remained stationary at the inner port as of Sep 9.Disputes between cargo interests and owners have been reported regarding water ingress and deviation to the port of Burgas.
