The Japanese ship which had been lying at anchor in Mormugao's outer harbour for a week was finally allowed to enter its port limits after Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) scientists said it does not pose any radiological hazard. BARC scientists submitted a series of scientific readings and analysis of all sections of the ship operated by a Japanese firm to the ship, M V Azul Integra's, local agent. It was later handed over to Mormugao port trust (MPT) authorities, who gave the green signal for the vessel's entry into the port. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/No-radioactivity-on-Japanese-ship-BARC/articleshow/8094519.cms

A preliminary report from Bhabha atomic research centre (BARC) has cleared the Japanese vessel, which has been anchored in Mormugao's outer harbour for the past five days, of any radioactive content, sources said. BARC scientists had taken samples of water from the port area, channel and vicinity of port limits. "The analysis has found the water (if there was a discharge from the ship) in the port area safe," a Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) official said. The scientists also boarded the vessel in the outer harbour and also drew samples from it. But preliminary tests indicated that the ship was safe from any radiation. However, the samples from MV Azul Integra's ballast water have been sent for analysis outside the state, the source said. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/No-radioactive-content-on-Japan-ship-BARC/articleshow/8068565.cms
