Barge refloated and towed away
The allision of the "Dei Voluntas" at Utrecht was caused by a technical failure. Meanwhile the wall of the Amsterdam-Rhine canal was patched up so that it could not crumble into the water. The ship was refloated and towed away to a company near the accident site to be unloaded.
Coal barge partially flooded after allision
In the night of May 1, 2014, the "Dei Voluntas" allided with the wall of the Amsterdam- Rhine Canal at the Utrecht Demka Bridge. The barge suffered a breach at the bow and water ingress. The ship traffic was interrupted. The fire rescue tried to dewater the ship, but the bow submerged within a few hours. The cargo of 2200 tons coal now had to be transferred onto another vessel. Divers went down trying to fix the hull. The flooded compartment could be sealed off, so that the ship was so far stable at the embankment.
