Freighter escaped arrest in Malta
The "Feyza Genc" fled from Malta after a court issued a warrant for her arrest on July 24, 2015, due to unpaid bunker bills of 45 818 Euro. The ship was anchored off the coast in Bunkering Area 3, about three miles from international waters, after it was detained by the coast guard in Malta's exclusive economic zone. Transport Malta was charged with ensuring the vessel remained in Maltese waters until court proceedings were completed. The vessel was heading to Turkish waters passing Karpathos island on July 27.
