Wheelhouse broke off in allision
On Dec 3, 2015, at 5.09 a.m. the "Amethyst" with 169 passengers and 43 crew on board allided with the bridge in the lock of Bachhausen on the Main-Danube-Canal. The 52 year old Hungarian captain had forgotten to lower the wheelhouse which hit the bridge spanning the lock. The wheelhouse broke off and crashed onto the upper deck. The master was not injured. The damage was estimated to be more thant 100000 Euro. The ship was underway from Regensburg to Nuremberg. The passengers were taken on by coaches.
