Pilot boat raised

The sheerleg "Sanne A" of the J.A. Rederiet has raised the sunken pilot boat "Danpilot Triton" on July 23 and brought the wreck to Svendborg. Afterwards the crane was now on the way back to Horsens. The pilot boat, which is based at Masnedø, sank in the early morning of July 18 in the Smålands fairway. The skipper had just time to send a distress signal and get into the life raft before the boat sank. The cause of the sinking is not yet known, but the pilot boat had been in a yard just a week ago because of a leak in the stern tube. Pilot boat sank in Guldborg Sound

The "Danpilot Triton" sank in the morning of July 18, 2015, at 7.30 a.m. in the Smålands fairway. The skipper sent a distress signal and then boarded a liferaft. Soon after his boat foundered between Femø and the entrance to the Guldborg Sound. Half an hour later he was hoisted aboard a rescue helicopter. The man had just sailed over to a freighter, but they could not get him from the raft. Therefore,a helicopter of was deployed by hte Defence Operation Centre. The cause of the sinking was not clear, but the boat had been in a shipyard for just a week ago because of a leak in the stern tube.
