Record quantity of drugs carried on vehicle carrier coming from Chile seized

French police has found nearly 1.4 tons of cocaine in a truck which previously had arrived aboard the "CSAV Rion Nevado" coming from Chile in the port of Le Havre on Feb 18, 2014. According to investigators, the seized cocaine has a market value of 270 million Euros. After a hint of the Bulgarian authorities, the French police pursued the truck after it exited from the freighter. At a rest area south of the Bourges the driver of the truck and the driver of an escort vehicle, both Hispanic, were arrested. The cocaine was hidden in tires, which the truck had loaded. They were destined to Spain. The truck had been used in the Dakar Rallt 2014 as a support vehicle. The race had enden in Valparaiso at the end of January. Two suspects were arrested in Bulgaria. More arrests were expected in Spain. It was the largest cocaine discovery in France ever, overseas Territories not included.
