Disabled trawler towed to Ballycastle
The 'Crystal Tide-CE 135' got its propeller fouled by the fishing gear in pos. 55 27 37.2 N, 006 13 39.6 W, in the North Channel in the northwest corner of the Traffic Separation Scheme with 6-7 tonnes of fish on board. The MRCC Belfast were advised by the lifeboat from Redbay that they were going to assist the vessel and took it in tow. The MRCC Belfast contacted the vessel and monitored the towing operation until its safe arrival in the port of Ballycastle.
Crystal Tide rescued man from the water
A man in his 70s was pulled from the water by the "Crystal Tide", as it came in to dock at Arbroath Harbour. Forth Coastguard was called shortly before midnight and sent an inshore lifeboat to the man's aid. They had no idea how long the man had been in the water, nor how he got there. The crew on board the "Crystal Tide" managed to throw a rope to him. As he was very close to the lifeboat station the rescue took place very quickly. An ambulance was there to give him oxygen and he has been taken to the Arbroath Infirmary.
