Passenger medevaced
On July 13, 2024, short before 5 a.m., the SAR-helicopter Helimer 207 was mobilized by the Barcelona center of Salvamento Maritimo after the International Radiomedical Center had requested the urgent evacuation of a sick passenger on board the Cruise Barcelona. The Helimer 207 e Holsten the Patient and transporter him to the Girona airport, where He was further cared for by health professionals.
Medevac off Barcelona
An Italian woman suffered pulmonary embolism aboard the 'Cruise Barcelona' on March 28, 2023, when the ferry was about 92 nautical miles east of Barcelona between Barcelona and Civitacecchia, and needed to be medevaced. The CCS Barcelona of Salvamento MArítimo mobilized the SAR helicopter Helimer 203, which hoisted her on board. She was transferred to the Sabadell airport for further medical attention.
Grimaldi Group completes installation of Corvus Energy ‘mega batteries’ in groundbreaking retrofit projects
Corvus Energy says that the company has completed the installation of a 5,5 MWh battery energy storage systems (ESS) for each of the two Ro-Pax cruise ferries “Cruise Barcelona” and “Cruise Roma” owned and operated by Italian Grimaldi Group. The ‘mega batteries’ will allow the Grimaldi cruise ferries to turn off the diesel engines and operate solely on battery power and with zero emissions for up to four hours during port stay.
