Grounding on Umshima Island
The 'VF Glory' has run aground in the shallow waters of Umashima Island in the Kurushima Straits off the coast of Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, where the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge on the Shimanami Kaido passes, with 18 Vietnamese crew members on board on Sep 27, 2022, at around 1 a.m. No injuries, no leaks nor spills were reported. The Imabari Coast Guard is investigating the circumstances. The ship hadleft Niihama Port (Niihama City, Ehime Prefecture) in the evening of the Sep 20 and was heading for South Korea without cargo on board. A tug pulled the ship out around noon.
