Collision in Valdez
On Jan 11, 2021, the tank m/v 'Polar Endeavour' (IMO: 9193551) was in collision with the 'Courageous' at the Valdez Oil Terminal. The tanker was about to leave the terminal after completing oil loading, when it was struck by the assistance which suddenly had got out of control. The tanker suffered a gash of 0,6 meters length 10 feet above the waterline. Ballast seawater that leaked from the tanker into Prince William Sound was inspected and did not contain oil. The tug also was damaged. One of its crew members was slightly injured. He saw a medic on the ship, and was later taken to a clinic to see a doctor and to have an X-ray. He was then discharged and sent home. The tanker remained at Valdez to carry out repairs and was cleared to sail on Jan 18. The next port of destination was Long Beach with an ETA as of Jan 25.
