Fire in laundry room
The 'Cote d'Albatre', en route from Dieppe to Newhaven with 251 people on board, suffered a fire in the laundry room, in pos. 50 47 16 N, 000 03 22 E, after the arrival in Newhaven on Oct 8, 2023, at 04.13 a.m. UTC. At 04.20 a.m. Newhaven and Birling gap CRTS were tasked. At 04.22 a.m. the East Sussex Fire and Rescue and Sussex police were requested to attend. At 04.28 a.m. the Southeast Coast ambulance service was requested to attend. At 04.38 a.m., the Newhaven CRT, and East Sussex Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene. At 04.51 a.m. it was confirmed that the fire was contained to a tumble dryer in the laundry room and was extinguished by the crew. No passengers or crew were missing or injured. At 05.32 a.m. all Coastguard units were stood down, and the SAR operation was terminated.
Allision in Newhaven
The 'Cote d'Albatre', en route from Dieppe to Newhaven, allided with a pier while entering Newhaven Harbour in position 50 47 17 N, 000 03 20 E, on Dec 14, 2019, at 10.30 a.m. The ferry suffered a large dent in its starboard quarter. There were no reported pollution or injuries. The 'Cote d'Albatre' subsequently berthed at the harbour and sailed again at 3.40 p.m. on the reutrun trip to Dieppe with an ETA as of Dec 16.
Medevac off Dieppe
On July 28, 2015, the "Côte d’Albâtre" informed the Marine Medical Consultation Centre (CCMM) in Toulouse that a passenger had suffered a heart attack on board. The vessel was approximately 15 nautical miles off Dieppe enroute to Newhaven. Following a conference between the CCMM, the CROSS Gris Nez and the Maritime Medical Coordination (SCMM) of Le Havre, a medevac was decided. At 2:45 p.m. the CROSS Gris Nez alerted a Dauphin helicopter of the Navy base in Le Touquet to transfer an SMUR team from Boulogne-sur-mer on board the ferry. At 3:10 p.m. the patient was hoisted aboard the helicopter and then transferred to the hospital in Dieppe.
