Medevac off Palamós

On May 27, 2024, the 'Costa Toscana' requested the medevac of a passenger 10 nautical miles East of Palamós. The CCS Barcelona of Salvamento Marítimo deplopyed the SAR boat 'Salvamar Sirius', which which placed itself next to the ship and embarked the patient, a family member and a nurse.

On Oct 23, 2023, the 'Coasta Toscana', en route from Barcelona to Cagliari, requested the medical evacuation of a passenger 65 nautical miles east of Menorca. The CCS Palma of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the SAR helicopter Helimer 220, which hoisted the patient and transferred it to the heliport of the Son Espases Hospital in Palma.

German boy found dead after falling over board

Off Civitavecchia, an 18-year-old German boy has died after falling over board from the 'Costa Toscana' on March 13, 2023, which was sailing about seven nautical miles from the coastal municipality. When the boy fell into the sea, for reasons yet to be ascertained, the alarm was triggered immediately. The cruise ship did a U-turn at about 7:30 p.m. after the alarm went off. The Coastguard and firefighters also intervened. After having searched the stretch of sea adjacent to the ship, the firefighters found the boy's body. A boat of the harbour master's office, which arrived on site, proceeded to take him on board.
