Bow Dalian back in service after fire
On Oct 23 the "Stolt Groenland" was still lying at Ulsan. All sound and damaged cargo were being transferred to other tankers at Ulsan. The transfer was expected to be completed by the end of October 2019. The "Bow Dalian", after completion of its repair works at the Orient Shipyard Co., Ltd., Busan, sailed from Busan on Oct 23 at 10 a.m., bound for Ulsan and has returned to normal service.
Tanker lightered and sailed to Busan for repairs
All cargo on board the 'Bow Dalian' which was damaged in the explosion of the 'Stolt Groenland' in Ulsan was transferred to the sister vessel 'Bow Nangang' from Oct 8 - 9. The 'Bow Dalian'sailed from Ulsan on Oct 10, 2019 and arrived at Busan the same day for repairs of the fire damages. The owners made a contract with the Orient Shipyard Co., Ltd., Busan, for repairs of the vessel, which commenced on Oct 11 and were expected to be completed by the end of November 2019.
Bow Dalian to be investigated first
The fire aboard the chemical tanker 'Stolt Grönland' at the Yeonpo Pier in Ulsan was finally exitinguished on Sep 29 at 11 a.m. A joint investigation will be done by the Ulsan Maritime Police and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology to determine the cause of the explosion. But even though the fire has been fully extinguished, it was still unsafe to board due to the petrochemicals that were inside the vessel. The Korea Coast Guard has placed an oil containment boom around the vessel in case of any oil or chemical leak.Investigators have planned to start examining the 'Bow Dalian' first.
