Connemara stuck for seven hours
The "Connemara" with 2500 tons of hydrocarbons on board ran aground on Aug 30, 2011, at 8 a.m. in the Easter Scheldt near Stavenisse. The ship got stuck 5 to 10 meters outside the waterway, so there was no disruption to other traffic. Another tanker was put on standby. Tugs tried to pull the tanker off, but the first attempt failed. Around 3 p.m. the ship was finally refloated with the rising tide. After the "Connemara" was refloated, she was thoroughly inspected.
