Tanker left port days after allision
The 'Torm Emilie' has left Kaohsiung again on Feb 6 at 6.20 p.m., headed to Guangzhou with an ETA as of Feb 9, 7 p.m. Before, the ship had discharged its cargo of about 70.000 to 80.000 tonnes of naphtha at berth No. 104. After adjusting the ballast on Feb 1 at 4 p.m.,the tanker had been safely berthed at the temporary pier no. S18, which is at present under construction in Kaohsiung.
Tanker breached in allision
The 'Torm Emilie', whilst manoeuvring to its berth in the port of Kaohsiung on Feb 1, 2022, with pilot's assistance, allided with the southern breakwater of the harbour. Due to the impact, the tanker suffered some damage with ensuing water ingress and started listing to starboard side.There were no injuries to crew nor pollution. The vessel was stable and safely anchored in pos. 22° 32.40' N 120° 17.87' E at 12.40 p.m. where it remained stationary as of Feb 2. All relevant authorities and parties have been notified. The weather conditions in the area were calm. The initial list of 14 degrees could be reduced to nine degrees. The ship was berthed at the Intercontinental Phase II Wharf, and oil booms were laid out around the vessel as a precaution. The CNPC has agreed to allow the tanker to berth at Pier 104 to be unloaded. Unloading was expected to take around 2,5 days, after which the ship will undergo repairs.
