Identity of body confirmed
The body of a woman who fell over board from the 'Commodore Clipper' on July 22, has been found on a beach in East Sussex, it has been confirmed. Ebla Yusuf disappeared after she boarded the ferry for a crossing between Portsmouth and the Channel Islands. When the 48-year-old woman failed to disembark at Guernsey, a major SAR operation was launched, involving aircraft from the UK and France, as well as Channel Islands Air Search. According to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, which is investigating Ms Yusuf’s disappearance, her body had been found on a beach in Seaford in East Sussex on 29 July. Her family have been notified and the matter will now be passed to Sussex coroner’s office.
Woman missing since boarding ferry
The Jersey and Guernsey police has named a person who was last seen on the 'Commodore Clipper', while she was heading to Jersey on Jily 22, 2023. Ebla Yusuf boarded the ship in Portsmouth on foot and was last seen onboard at about 2 p.m. BST, whilst the ferry was still in UK waters. There was nothing to indicate Ms Yusuf disembarked in Guernsey or Jersey. The ferry crew had conducted a full search of the boat. Police in both islands have asked anyone who may have spoken to Ms Yusuf before or during the journey to come forward and assist their ongoing search. Medevac off Alderney
Two nurses have been praised after an unwell man required urgent medical attention during a Guernsey to Portsmouth sailing of the the 'Commodore Clipper' on Jan 21, 2023. He needed to be medevaced. Two nurses on board helped the man after an appeal by the staff. A French naval helicopter hoisted the man from the vessel off Alderney. He was flown to the Cherbourg hospital. The man was understood to be in a stable condition.
