ROV surveyed sunk TRV 72 of Indian Navy

Wed Nov 19 10:33:22 CET 2014 Timsen

The "Olympic Canyon" which the Indian Navy chartered from the Reliance Industries, on Nov 18, 2014, conducted an underwater videography of the torpedo recovery vessel "TRV 72" that had sunk on Nov 6 off the coast of Visakhapatnam, leaving one dead and four missing. The wreck was observed to be in an upright position at a depth of about 370 metres. It was now planned to analyse the captured video footage and determine further course of action. The navy had sought assistance of Reliance Industries Ltd in conduct of underwater videography of TRV 72 wreck by utilising a remotely operated vessel. The "Olympic Canyon" was conducting offshore work in the Krishna-Godavari Basin. Videography by ROV commenced in the morning and was completed by the evening. The mission was undertaken as part of the Board of Inquiry to determine how the accident took place.
