Ferry sidelined after allision

Thu May 02 11:25:10 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "CNM Evolution" (IMO: 8982826), serving the route from Rimouski to Forestville, which offered an alternative to the Matane-Côte-Nord link, allided with a wharf in Rimouski on April 26, and departures were canceled at least until May 2. The ship was sidelined in Rimouski-Est for repairs since 6.45 p.m. that day. Currently, pedestrians can only use the air link between Mont-Joli and Sept-Îles or Baie-Comeau, and the roro ferry "CTMA Voyageur" (IMO: 7222229) was carrying heavy between Matane and the North Shore. The Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ) put the ferry "Apollo" ( 7006314) up on sale by publishing an appeal for interest. The smaller ferry "L'Heritage I", 456 gt (IMO: 7397725), serving the Trois-Pistoles-Les Escoumins route, remained at the quay in Trois Pistoles since Oct 10, 2018, and was still not back in operation, despite having been called in to reinforce the lack of departures caused by the setbacks of the Matane-Côte-Nord ferry crossing. After the "Apollo" which had been inserted as a replacement vessel, was removed from traffic after alliding twice with docks in February and March, the Société des traversiers du Québec asked Trois-Pistoles-Les Escoumins ferry operators to begin their season earlier. The manufacture of the propeller shafts which were at the end of age, was then put in priority. They were ready just before Easter, but it was not until the validation of the Transport Canada inspectors .The vessel sailed from Rimouski on May 5.
