Four stowaways transferred at Suez Canal checkpoint

Four Lankan stowaways caught while travelling aboard the 'CMA CGM Panama' (IMO: 9839923) have been handed transferred onto the 'JAckson Bay' and finally handed over to the Sri Lankan authorities. The suspects sneaked aboard the ship while it was at Colombo Harbour on March 24, 2023. They were discovered by the captain of the ship at the Suez Canal security checkpoint in Egypt. The captain informed his parent company about the discovery and according to their instructions, on March 28 they have been handed over to the 'Jackson Bay', belonging to the same company sailing towards Sri Lanka. They kept the four Sri Lankan youths in a special cell and brought them to the international waters near the Galle port under strict security. After the officials of the Galle Port Immigration and Emigration Department were informed, a team of officials of Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Police and Sri Lanka Port Authority approached the 'Jackson Bay' in international waters. and the four men were handed over to the custody of Sri Lankan authorities on April 10. The four youth aged 25, 31, 32 and 32, were residents of Jaffna and Mullaitivu. Immigration Department officials handed them over to the Galle Port Police. They were transferred to the CID on April 11. Action will be taken not only against them but also against the people who aided and abetted them.

Robbers boarded ship at Jakarta

Two robbers boarded the "Jackson Bay" while the vessel was alongside at the Jakarta container terminal on April 26, 2019, at 9 p.m. The duty oiler on routine rounds noticed the robbers in the engine room and raised the alarm. Hearing the alarm, the robbers fled the vessel and escaped empty handed. A search was made throughout the vessel and nothing was reported stolen.

Officer fell into cargo hold

On May 28,at 2.40 a.m. the second officer of the "ZIM India" fell into the vessel’s cargo hold during holds inspection and broke his legs. The vessel docked at Berth 18 in Novorossiysk where the Bulgarian citizen was delivered to hospital, no danger to life. odin.tc
