Container ship ran aground in Southampton

Thu Apr 10 13:32:18 CEST 2025 Timsen

The 'CMA CGM Pelleas' came at close quarters with a wall before running aground as it left its berth in Southampton on April 9, 2025. The vessel too took a direct path towards the wall in front of waterside flats off Marchwood. After it beached briefly, tugs assisted the vessel and pulled it off again. The ship then docked in Southampton and is due in Rotterdam at the weekend. The Associated British Ports (ABP), the city's port owners, will play a role in any subsequent review of the incident. The matter had been referred to the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB). Report with photo: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4g33y0dkngo

CMA CGM 'Pelleas' starts NY & NJ calls on Ocean Alliance's Loop 3 service

Fri Aug 04 13:20:28 CEST 2017 arnekiel

CMA CGM's 9,900-TEU, CMA CGM Pelleas, has started calling at APM Terminals at the Elizabeth-Port Authority Marine Terminal in the port of New York and New Jersey. The vessel is deployed on the Ocean Alliance's Loop 3 service. The three additional members of the Ocean Alliance are: Cosco Shipping, Evergreen, and OOCL.The rotation includes major ports in China and Southeast Asia, and makes the port of New York and New Jersey its first US port of call, reported AJOT.The CMA CGM Pelleas is one of many ships of increasing carrying capacity calling at New York and New Jersey as a direct result of several preparations made by The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey through a string of capital works projects. These projects include raising the roadway, and therefore the air draft, of the Bayonne Bridge; and the harbour deepening programme to load ships to a depth of up to 50 feet.
