Hull cracked in allision

Fri Oct 04 13:01:32 CEST 2024 Timsen

When the 'CMA CGM Balboa' struck a dock at the port of Barranquilla, Colombia on Oct 2 at 12.40 a.m., no pollution or injuries were reported. The four tugs which were quickly dispatched to assist the ship in a joint response with tug operators, the local harbormaster and the Colombian Maritime Authority, freed the vessel at 11 a.m., and it was relocated to a safe berth. The hull was cracked and the ballast tanks began to fill with water. The 'CMA CGM' Balboa was still moored in Barranquilla as of Oct 4.. It remained unclear where the ship needed to be drydocked in Barranquilla or if will instead undergo repairs at its next port of call.
