Airbus wings carrier to be surveyed in Holyhead
The "Ciudad de Cadiz" arrived at Holyhead on Feb 10 at 07:50 a.m. where it was to undergo extensive underwater structural surveys to ensure it sustained no damage during the 11 day grounding. The "Ciudad de Cadiz" arrived safely at Holyhead after undergoing an initial safety examination at Mostyn on Feb 9.
Airbus carrier refloated
On Feb 9 at 10 a.m. the "Ciudad de Cadiz" was refloated. The high tide of 9.3 metres was at 09.45 a.m. and the operation was further helped by low air pressure. At 09.50 a.m. a tug and a survey vessel pushed at the stern of the vessel which could be seen turning slightly to starboard. At 09.56 a.m. a small tug then pushed at the bow of the ship as the larger tug revved her engines and pulled it forward. The ship moved back to port. As the "Ciudad de Cadiz" limped towards the Port of Mostyn the tugs turned her stern on and reversed her onto the berth. Surveyors from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency will go aboard at 1 p.m. It is now undergoing a survey, and if all is well, it will travel to Holyhead for a full dive survey.
