127 Haitians and three Cubans transferred to Bahamian authorities
The 'Harriet Lane' transferred 127 Haitians and three Cuban nationals to Bahamian authorities on March 13, 2022. A good Samaritan contacted Coast Guard District Seven watchstanders on March 11 at approximately 4 p.m., reporting three people stranded on an island near Anguilla Cay, Bahamas. They were brought aboard the Coast Guard Cutter 'Richard Etheridge' which contacted the 'Harriet Lane' at approximately 7:30 p.m. reporting an overloaded sailing vessel approximately 41 miles offshore Anguilla Cay. Coast Guard Cutters interdicted overloaded sailing vessel
The Coast Guard Cutters 'Confidence' and 'Harriet Lane' interdicted a Haitian sailing vessel with 179 people aboard on Feb 27, 2022, approximately 30 miles off Andros Island, Bahamas. An Air Station Clearwater C-130 airplane had spotted the overloaded vessel at approximately 11 p.m., and reported it to the nearby cutters and command center watchstanders. The boat people were scheduled to be transferred to the Royal Bahamian Defense Force crews on March 1.
