169 migrants repatriated to Haiti
The 'Valiant' repatriated 169 people to Haiti on Oct 16, following an interdiction south of the Turks and Caicos Islands. A Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 aircrew forward deployed in support of Operation Bahamas, Turks and Caicos notified Coast Guard District Seven watchstanders of an overloaded makeshift vessel, which was taking on water on OCt 12 at approximately 5 p.m., District Seven watchstanders diverted the Coast Guard Cutter 'Margaret Norvell' to interdict the vessel. Once aboard the Coast Guard cutter, the migrants were processed to determine their identity and provided food, water, shelter, and basic medical attention before repatriation to their country of origin or return to the country from which they departed. 182 migrants repatriated to Haiti
The 'Valiant' repatriated 182 people to Haiti on Sep 27, following an interdiction south of the Turks and Caicos Islands. A Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations multi-purpose aircraft aircrew hadnotified Coast Guard District Seven watchstanders of an overloaded makeshift vessel on Sep 22 at approximately 10:15 a.m.. They diverted the Coast Guard Cutter William 'Trump' to interdict the vessel. Once aboard the cutter, the migrants were processed to determine their identity and are provided food, water, shelter, and basic medical attention before repatriation to their country of origin or return to the country from which they departed. 23 migrants repatriated in two operations
The US Coast Guard intercepted two separate boats packed with Cuban migrants trying to set foot in Florida aboard tiny vessels ill-suited for the high seas. The first boat was spotted about 12 miles south of the Marquesas Keys near Key West on May 10, 2024, with 15 Cubans on board. On May 12, authorities in Key West were tipped off by a good Samaritan that another boat with migrants was in the ocean about 26 miles south of Marathon. The Coast Guard Cutter 'Valiant' plucked eight Cubans from that boat and sent them home. The crew of the 'Paul Clark' repatriated 23 migrants to Cuba on May 14.
