Coast Guard Cutter searched for missing fisherman
The U.S. Coast Guard suspended the search for a man missing from the fishing vessel 'Susan Rose' since the morning of July 1, 2022. After searching throughout the night, 1,064 square nautical miles have been combed through over 53 total asset hours, the active search has been suspended on July 2 at 10:28 a.m. pending further developments. The deckhand has fallen overboard in the vicinity of Nomans Land, while the ship was en route to New Bedford. Members of the Chilmark Fire Department searched the shoreline yesterday morning by ATV and drone and a member of the Aquinnah Police Department also searched by ATV. Coast Guard aircraft and surface vessels searched on July 1, as did vessels from the Buzzards Bay Task Force. On July 2, foul weather prohibited a further air search by the 'Tybee' and 'Sturgeon'.
