Coast Guard Cutters repatriated 273 Cubans
The 'Mohawk' repatriated 273 migrants to Matanzas on Jan 8, 2023, following interdictions off Florida’s coast. The Coast Guard Cutter 'Richard Etheridge' alerted Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant chug on Dec. 31, 2022, at approximately 4 p.m., about 104 miles southwest of Marquesas Keys. A good Samaritan notified Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant chug the same day at approximately 4 p.m., about 81 miles southwest of Marquesas Keys. The Coast Guard Cutter 'Richard Etheridge' alerted Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant chug the same day at approximately 6 p.m., about 92 miles southwest of Marquesas Keys. The Coast Guard Cutter 'Pablo Valent' alerted Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant chug the same day at approximately 10:15 p.m., about 14 miles south of Key Colony Beach. A good Samaritan notified Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant chug on Jan. 1, at approximately 7 a.m., about 5 miles south of Duck Key. A good Samaritan notified Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant vessel the same day at approximately 9 a.m., about 7 miles south of Duck Key. A good Samaritan notified Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant chug the same day at approximately 10 a.m., about 8 miles south of the Seven Mile Bridge. A good Samaritan notified Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant vessel the same day at approximately 11 a.m., about 24 miles south of Islamorada. A good Samaritan notified Sector Key West watchstanders of a capsized migrant vessel the same day at approximately 5 p.m., about 35 miles north of Havana, Cuba. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations crew alerted Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant vessel the same day at approximately 7 p.m., about 23 miles south of Marquesas Keys. A Coast Guard Station Marathon law enforcement boat crew alerted Sector Key West watchstanders of a rustic vessel on Jan 2 at approximately 12 p.m., about 17 miles south of Key West. A good Samaritan notified Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant chug the same day, at approximately 9 a.m., about 5 miles south of Marathon. Coast Guard Cutter repatriated 110 Haitians
The 'Mohawk' repatriated 110 Haitians to Haiti on Dec 20, 2022, following two interdictions off Florida’s coast. An Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry law enforcement aircrew notified Sector Key West watchstanders of an overloaded sailing vessel on Dec. 11, at approximately 9 p.m. Coast Guard air and surface assets, and Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations crews responded. The 'Mohawk' notified District Seven watchstanders of an overloaded sailing vessel on Dec 15 at approximately, 11:50 p.m., about 20 miles northwest of Isle de Tortue, Haiti. Two missing Cubans rescued off Bimini
The CG 'Mohawk' rescued two Cuban males on March 29, 2022, at approximately 5 p.m. near Bimini, Bahamas. A good Samaritan reported to Sector Miami watchstanders, Tuesday, he spotted people on a homemade paddle board approximately 10 miles west of Bimini. These men were presumed missing at sea, after the Coast Guard suspended the active two-day search on March 27. The castaways were brought aboard the Coast Guard Cutter and scheduled to be transferred to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force authorities. Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders were notified by concerned family members on March 25 of the overdue venture which left Cuba on March 22 en route to Key West.
