Two ships attacked, 17 crew members taken hostage

Two ships were attacked in the morning of Aug 15, 2019, at Douala anchorage. The "Victory C" was attacked in position 03 52N 009 31E, at 01.30 a.m. Nine out of total 21 crew members were kidnapped, all were of Asian nationalities. The bulk carrier had arrived at Douala Anchorage on Aug 12, and was moored in pos. 03 52N 009 31E before it changed position on Aug 12. The cargo m/v "Marmalita" was attacked by pirates at the anchorage of the Wouri river in Douala in the morning of Aug 15, hours after the first attack. Eight crew members were kidnapped, including three Russians. The "Marmalaita" had arrived at the anchorage on Aug 13.
